2013-05-09 22:51:24 - Its PAUL app eliminates loading delays and makes mobile video viewing better than ever
COLUMBUS, OH -- Following on the successful February launch of PAUL the app, today inmobly announced its latest update, which adds Flixster, VEVO, Fox Sports and Fox News for mobile video and SoundCloud for music. The update also includes a customizable user interface. Two Arabic video sources, Al Jazeera Sports and Al Arabiya News, are also included.
“PAUL learns your video viewing habits, then brings you the videos you want—before you even know you want them,” said inmobly CEO Hesham El Gamal. By preloading videos and music from 13 popular sources, PAUL helps eliminate any buffering delays.
“PAUL the App is an exciting example of how quickly our technology integrates with content providers,” El Gamal said. “Our users let us
know what they like, and what they’re missing. They told us that, even with unlimited data plans, they’re still experiencing painful loading delays. So we provided 3G/4G loading to fix that problem.”
New interface changes let users choose which apps they want to see on their home screen, select video categories, and allow PAUL to load videos over their cellular networks.
PAUL’s delay-free playback quickly captures user attention, so content providers like it, too, El Gamal said. “A recent study from the University of Massachusetts Amherst shows that users abandon loading videos after as little as 2 seconds of waiting.” ( gigaom.com/2012/11/09/online-viewers-start-leaving-if-video-does ..
The technology behind PAUL was developed to relieve the network congestion that leads to buffering, a phenomenon known as the “bandwidth crunch.” A growing number of people view videos on their smart phones.
