1st Annual Kids & Family Expo Premiers at DeVos Place – Saturday – January 18

2014-01-02 20:51:27 - For the first time ever a Zip Line will zip through DeVos Place, along with a Kids & Family Expo. The expo will debut at the beautiful downtown DeVos Place in 2014, on Saturday, January 18 and will focus on Family Bonding Activities, Education & Fun.

Grand Rapids has been ranked as a #1 city in the United States to raise a family, and we are engaged in creating an Expo that encourages families to Get Active – Get Smart – and Have Fun.

By the time January rolls around families will have cabin fever, and this Expo will encourage families to come play, celebrate, get active, explore, build, learn, and discover. Families Matter and this Expo will encourage family bonding time along with some moving and creative mind activities. Moving Matters and this Expo will encourage physical activity, empowering children and families to lead better lives. Minds Matter and Creative Play Matters, bringing basic family bonding activities full circle.

• Kids Building Workshops presented by The Home Depot
• Storybook time with KDLville (Kent District Library)
• Art Wall Zone presented by Goddard Schools
• Face Painting Fun presented by Bethany Christian Services
• Balloon Twisting Fever presented by Apple Tree Christian Learning Centers
• Coloring Zone presented by Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel
• Wall of Gratitude presented by The Mental Health Foundation.
• Free Chocolate Milk provided by United Dairy Industry of Michigan; along with “milk mustache” photos
• Green Thumb Zone “Germination Station” presented by K12
• Cookies & Canvas Painting Fun
• Ga-Ga Pit
• Be Nice School Stage Line-Up, with Rick Chyme!
• Airborne Adventure
• DNR Dr. Dirt and his traveling band of furs, skulls and Trixy the FOX
• Kids Movie School “A Theatre company for Kids” presented by Children’s Creations Theater
• Self Defense – Presented by Flees ATA Martial Arts

Along with the zip line, and a number of featured areas, families can expect to see and feel the love of a community engaged. “What we promote, teach and encourage in a fun environment can only secure the future of the community in which we live LIFE to the fullest. We need strong family fun, creative solutions, support and awareness and community engagement,” says Ben Dixon, show manager of Kids & Family Expo.
