Bienen has been appointed to the Company's Board of Directors, increasing the board size from seven to eight members. Mr. Bienen has also been named to the Board's Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
Mr. Bienen, 69, is currently
the president of Northwestern University (Evanston, Ill.), and having served in this position since 1995, is set to retire in August 2009. Prior to his appointment at Northwestern, Mr. Bienen was the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor and dean of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, which he joined in 1966 as an assistant professor of politics. Mr. Bienen was one of the first three university presidents awarded the Carnegie Corporation Academic Leadership Award for innovative leadership in higher education.
Mr. Bienen is also a member of the following boards of directors: Council on Foreign Relations (Executive Committee member, chairman of the Nominating and Governance Committee); Chicago Council on Global Affairs (Executive Committee member); and Argonne National Laboratory's Board of Governors (Executive and Nominating Committee member). His other board and trustee memberships include JSTOR, Rasmussen College and Steppenwolf Theatre.
Mr. Bienen holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University, a master's degree from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
