www.spss.com - SPSS Bob Reczek 312/651-3292 breczek@spss.com SPSS Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSS), a leading worldwide provider of Predictive Analytics software and solutions, today announced the availability of SPSS Statistics 17.0, the latest version of its market-leading software suite that solves business and research problems.

SPSS Statistics 17.0 extends the power of Predictive Analytics, from

the non-technical user to the expert programmer/analyst, and improves utilization and productivity with new and enhanced features in data access, data preparation, analysis and reporting. In addition, it takes advantage of SPSS deployment capabilities to share results and easily integrates with existing customer infrastructures and SPSS Predictive Analytics products -- including the new SPSS Viz Designer(TM), which creates powerful and compelling data visualizations.

MAS Strategies' Michael Schiff, in a report for analyst firm Current Analysis, said, "SPSS Statistics 17.0 represents the next step in the natural evolution of a proven and established product. By helping to bring the power of advanced analytics to non-statisticians, SPSS Statistics 17.0 should serve to increase the breadth and depth of SPSS deployment across organizations in almost all industries."

Victor Kogler, executive director of California-based Alcohol and Drug Policy Institute, said, "I have been more impressed with this version than any other I have used. SPSS Statistics 17.0 is extremely user friendly and makes it even easier for me to fulfill my daily responsibilities. Major advancements in functionality and accessibility allow us to use data to drive critical business processes and create powerful presentations and reports that ultimately impact our bottom line."

Added Rebecca Wettemann, vice president of industry analyst firm Nucleus Research, "SPSS' goal is to bring the power of Predictive Analytics to every individual in an organization -- not just the number crunchers. SPSS Statistics 17.0 takes a big step in that direction by offering several new enhancements and features, including an RFM (recency, frequency and monetary) interface which enables marketers to target their campaigns more effectively."

New SPSS Statistics 17.0 software functionality includes:

-- Improved research and reporting tools, including new multiple imputation capabilities that fill in missing values and create more complete data sets, and a Syntax Editor that eliminates errors commonly associated with syntax-driven analysis.

-- Greater accessibility for beginners and increased functionality for experts. A new Custom Dialogue Builder creates interfaces matching users' skills sets and responsibilities. Improvements in usability allow multiple functions across an organization to maximize analytical resources by sharing output and applying it to other applications.

-- Quicker access to analysis with an RFM (recency, frequency and monetary) interface enabling marketing professionals to quickly and easily produce behavioral pattern analysis for identifying the best customers.

-- Improved visualization capabilities. While SPSS Statistics 17.0 already provides numerous templates for creating compelling visualizations, it also integrates with the new SPSS Viz Designer(TM), allowing users to easily create and share customized visualizations -- ranging from basic charts to advanced, interactive graphics. Users can easily select the graphic that best communicates SPSS Statistics 17.0 analysis.

-- Easier enterprise integration, deployment and management. Deeper integration with the SPSS Predictive Enterprise Services platform and SPSS Predictive Analytics data mining technology allows users to streamline analytic processes across the enterprise.

SPSS Statistics 17.0 is now available by calling 800-543-2185 or visiting the SPSS Web store. For more information on the product, please visit www.spss.com/statistics/.
