2013-10-05 08:18:41 - Already in Week 5 of the 2013 NFL season, the sports handicapping website Vegas Experts has found an NFL Trend involving Road Teams
The psychology of playing a road game following a victory at home in 2013 was the basis of research by the sports handicapping website Vegas Experts.
The website found that teams thus far have struggled in this position, managing to beat the Las Vegas betting line just seven of 23 times thus far.
The most recent test of this theory came on Thursday night, when the Buffalo Bills failed to cover the 3.5 pointspread in a 37-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Last Sunday, the Bills defeated the Baltimore Ravens at home by a 23-20 score.
Vegas Experts discovered that there was no apparent difference whether a team was favored or playing as an underdog. In the first category, teams have managed
to defeat the Las Vegas betting line in just three of ten contests. In the latter portion, the numbers are virtually the same with just four pointspread victories in 13 tries.
Besides the aforementioned Thursday game, this weekend will provide a strong test to the research, with six games fitting within the parameters of the research. Those games are: the New Orleans Saints are the road team for its game against the Chicago Bears; the Carolina Panthers are visiting the Arizona Cardinals; the Denver Broncos are at the Dallas Cowboys; the Detroit Lions travel to face the Green Bay Packers; the Kansas City Chiefs will match up away from home with the Tennessee Titans; and the San Diego Chargers will compete in a road contest against the Oakland Raiders.
