Solutions to overcome salient logistics challenges in the Oil and Gas industry

Logistics in oil and gas industry play a major role in both downstream as well as upstream industry. Starting from the exploration to production to refining to marketing and finally to the consumer logistics plays a key role in meeting up with the true delivery time. The main challenge faced by the oil and gas industry is not the availability of oil and gas resources, but putting these reserves into production and delivering the final products to consumers at the minimum cost possible. The 2nd Annual Oil and Gas Logistics Summit to be held at Park Rotana Hotel, Abu Dhabi on 26 - 27 March 2013 will highlight on improving strategy, planning and trade policy in the MENA region and

also implementing safety and security regulations and policy. This summit will arm the participants with the knowledge on best practices of top five ME logistics hubs and about the latest analytics tools and technology across the value chain.

Steven Killmer, Supply Chain Management Consultant at Saudi Aramco is one of the speakers at the summit. He will present a detailed discourse on supplier relationship management with upstream suppliers in the petrochemical industry. This interactive presentation focuses on identifying core competencies in the supply chain, choosing the right enterprise for process transformation and managing outsourced elements of operations.
Steven R. Killmer is a supply chain management professional within a petrochemical-focused supply management organization. A veteran of the Saudi Aramco organizations since 1991, Steven has spent fourteen of those years in Houston, Texas with Aramco Services Company (ASC), a wholly-owned affiliate of Saudi Aramco, before transferring to the Company’s headquarters during the fall of 2005.

Case studies that will be discussed at the summit are HR in production process – recovery from the resources breaking point by Muhammad Afzal Siddiqi, Manager Recruitment and Staff Administration, Formerly Manager Contracts and Logistics at Pakistan Petroleum Limited. Vinod Menon, Malaysia Area Procurement and Sourcing Manager from Schlumberger will present his case study on managing supply chain processes in mergers and acquisitions.

Ali Egal, Sr Purchasing Specialist GASCO, former head of materials operations representing Borouge will illustrate on materials management in petrochemical industry. Some of the confirmed speakers who will be addressing various other topics at the summit are Taher Salem Saeed, Head, Technical Purchasing representing GASCO and Riyan Qirbi, Strategy and Commercial Supply Manager from BP. Various other topics will be covered at the summit that will help the attendees to be better prepared for the challenges they face in logistics.
