2014-04-28 16:25:11 - Solarflare’s expanding portfolio of security and monitoring solutions positions the company for new hyper-growth in Cloud, Big Data, Government, Security, and Telecommunications
IRVINE, CA – April 28, 2014 – Solarflare, the leader in application-intelligent 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) networking software and hardware, announced today that it has surpassed the 1,000 customer mark – just four years since the launch of its network adapter business. The company adds new customers at the rate of one every business day and continues to dominate the Ethernet market for low-latency, high-performance server network systems.
Solarflare accelerates, monitors, and secures network traffic and applications in both virtualized and bare metal data center environments for enterprises, service providers, and cloud customers. In the last 18 months, the company has expanded its capabilities to include precision time, network monitoring/packet capture and security products. These innovations are driven by scale-out
applications that require extreme performance and greater security in markets such as Cloud, CDN, Big Data, Government, and Telecommunications. Solarflare provides a unique set of solutions that serve an unaddressed market worth $3 billion in 2018, according to Dell’Oro and IDC.
Solarflare’s product line expansion has propelled the company into new markets while enhancing the company’s ability to meet the high-speed demands of the modern financial markets. Today, 95% of the world’s electronic trading passes through Solarflare’s technology at least once daily. Recognizing the competitive advantage Solarflare offers in a high-speed trading environment, NYSE Euronext deployed Solarflare 10GbE server adapters and EnterpriseOnload® software in multiple data centers to drive mission-critical, low-latency trading.
Building Faster, Safer Networks
Solarflare is currently deploying its SolarSecureTM Filter Engine software to multiple customers worldwide to deliver real-time, active protection for servers. The Filter Engine provides a new layer of security in the data center by filtering, rate limiting, or blocking traffic from entering the server, providing enhanced protection against the growing number and scale of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.
Utilizing Solarflare’s SolarSecureTM Filter Engine along with Solarflare 10Gb Ethernet (10GbE) server adapters, CloudFlare – the web performance and security company – built an extra layer of protection into their network at the server level. The deployment empowered CloudFlare to deliver a more robust, scalable DDoS service, increase the performance and lower the response time of its hosted DNS services; making the Web safer and faster for everyone.
According to CloudFlare Director of Special Projects, Joshua Motta: “Solarflare provides a scalable product platform for innovation and application delivery. When you couple Solarflare's technology roadmap with their willingness to work closely with our development team on new security features, Solarflare makes the ideal strategic partner for the 10X global network growth we plan over the next 18 months.”
Solarflare is also engaged with traditional Telecom, CDN, Web, Hosting, and Cloud service providers which combine multiple Solarflare applications. They leverage the common Solarflare product platform to deliver services such as, application acceleration, DDoS mitigation, precision time and the acceleration of Web traffic load balancers and HTTP Web servers.
“With the increasing rate and dynamic nature of cyber attacks, network security in the Data Center must be flexible and distributed,” says Jon Oltsik, Senior Principal Security Analyst, ESG. “Solarflare’s monitoring and security products transform the server into a network monitoring or packet capture device. Together with SolarSecure™, servers can filter, block, rate limit, log, and alert on malicious traffic before it hits the server’s operating system or the host application. The company is poised for success in this rapidly growing market.”
Solarflare further strengthens network security through SolarCaptureTM Pro, which provides each server with the ability to capture and subsequently pass off traffic for processing or analytics, enabling critical performance audits and tuning, security forensics, and regulatory compliance. The security consulting and embedded crypto systems company Reservoir Labs has incorporated Solarflare's SolarCapture™ Pro into its R-Scope® network security monitoring appliance that extracts network traffic, analyzes it, and reports cyber-security intelligence.
“Solarflare has dominated its initial market sector in high performance electronic trading,” said Russell Stern, CEO of Solarflare. “With the rapid transition from 1G to 10G networking in the enterprise, coupled with our introduction of unique solutions in the security sector, the company and the market are at a critical moment when deployments of Solarflare’s Application-Intelligent Networking solutions outside of financial services like Cloud, CDN, Telecom companies, and government agencies are driving hyper-growth.”
Solarflare is the leading provider of software and hardware that accelerate, monitor and secure network data.
