The India Semiconductor Association (ISA) the premier trade body representing the semiconductor industry in the country, in collaboration with SEMI and Fabcity commenced the three-day solar PV conference today at International Convention Centre, Hyderabad. Hyderabad, November 10, 2009: The conclave, inaugurated by Shri K Rosaiah, Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, is coveted to be India’s most focused event on solar energy. This is the second edition of the conclave and is supported by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC)

SOLARCON India 2009 features prominent industry leaders representing the solar PV manufacturing and applications space. The keynote speaker on the first day of the event was Prof. Eicke Weber (PhD), Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) in Freiburg. Other participants to grace the podium include Debashish Majumdar, Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency; K. Subramanya, CEO of Tata BP Solar; G. Rajeswaran, CTO of Moser Baer Photovoltaic; Dr. Charlie Gay, President of the Solar Business Group at Applied Materials and Prof. Peter Adelmann, Ulm University of Applied Sciences, Germany.
The Conclave will focus on the needs of this evolving sector in India; and aims to bring together key players, business leaders, technology experts and strategists on a common platform. The assembly included representatives of the Central & State government Ministries, Departments, Public Sector Undertakings along with power developers and distributors and regulatory agencies. It also aims to provide them with an opportunity to meet and network with decision-makers from global and regional PV supply chain companies. The three-day conference is complemented by an exhibition showcasing over 50 international speakers, 70 exhibitors and 300 delegates. Sessions highlights include PV markets, climate change, policy, finance, key applications for India, standards, Environment Health & Safety (EHS), Balance of System and projects, planning and implementation.
