eClaims is the new industry standard defined by the Multi Insurer Group (MIG) incorporating Aviva Health, laya Healthcare and Vhi Healthcare that requires health insurance claims to be submitted in a common electronic format.
“The three main Healthcare Insurers are now focusing on the rollout of eClaims across the Irish Healthcare market, with the aim of making the current paper-based scanning submission process a thing of the past.” MIG eClaims Press Release.
SoftCo defined the old eImage standard in 2003 and currently processes private insurance claims for over 70 Healthcare Providers in this format. In December 2013, Beacon Hospital went live with SoftCo eClaims, the only solution that successfully automates the processing of hospital health insurance claims in full compliance with the new eClaims standard. The second SoftCo eClaims facility goes live in August 2014 with other projects in progress.
"E-Claims delivers significant benefits for providers
including improved cash flow through reduced lead times –
for example returned claims for Beacon Hospital have dropped
by 80% for all electronically submitted claims” John
With the significant process and cashflow benefits of eClaims and the forthcoming insurer penalties to process the old formats, the adoption of eClaims is accelerating. SoftCo is offering free workshops to all healthcare providers, both public and private, to educate your team on eClaims from the team that has successfully implemented full eClaims solutions. Workshop content includes an introduction to the new eClaims standard, upgrading from old paper and elmage formats to ensure compliance requirements and understanding the MIG tiered eClaims model to move to "Fully Electronic" and to achieve significant benefits and cost savings.
