The latest version of the industry's leading physical file tracking and management software : , SmeadSoft Paper Recordkeeping helps organizations stay in control of critical business information. It includes several enhancements that improve an organization's ability to ensure security, manage retention and meet compliance regulations.



A number of existing users were provided advance previews of the software.

SmeadSoft Paper Recordkeeping helps organizations manage information in a manner that ensures the reliability and trustworthiness of every record. In addition to improving efficiencies by streamlining time-consuming, manual processes and preventing the loss of important records, SmeadSoft Paper Recordkeeping 9.0 includes the following new features:

--  SQL Database Conversion Utility -- The system includes a distributable
    version of the Microsoft SQL database. With the 9.0 release, Smead ends
    support for Microsoft Access.  However, the product includes the database
    conversion utility that will enable existing customers on Access to move to
    this more powerful and functional database environment.

--  Slim Server Microsoft Vista Compliance -- Slim (license management)
    Server has been enhanced to now operate on the Vista operating system
    without conflict.

--  Enhanced Security -- SmeadSoft security management has been completely
    redesigned to complement current security administration requirements.

--  Records Movement for Approved Users -- SmeadSoft Paper Recordkeeping
    allows users with the correct permission to be able to move records within
    files in the event that a record was placed incorrectly or determined
    during its life cycle to belong in a different section of the system.

--  ROV and Datalogic Bar Code Readers Support -- The system has been
    updated to support the Datalogic bar code reader as a strong alternative to
    the now-discontinued Denso bar code reader, and the ROV bar code reader
    replaces the Flic bar code reader with a highly reliable device that also
    has greater storage capacity than its predecessor.

--  Natural Language Search -- In addition to the Boolean- and character-
    searching capabilities within the SmeadSoft Paper Recordkeeping solution,
    Smead has enhanced the search capabilities to be inclusive of "plain
    language."

--  Color Palette Selection Enhancements -- The new system provides
    flexibility for color selection, allowing users to optimize visual
    reference capabilities.

--  Retention Management Enhancement -- Smead has significantly altered
    the structure of how records retention policies are defined and deployed
    within the SmeadSoft Paper Recordkeeping system. These changes are more
    flexible and easier for users to both deploy and understand.
