The aftermarket module allows one-touch opening and closing of the soft top by using the original factory key fob remote. Aftermarket automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars now offers a solution for the new Porsche Boxster 981. The latest product in the SmartTOP series allows easy one-touch operation from the center console switch. It is no longer necessary to hold down the switch for the entire duration, the top opens or closes fully automatically. This adds convenience and saves time, leading to the car being used with the top-down more often.

The top can also be operated from the original factory key fob remote, allowing owners to open or close the top with one-touch convenience from a distance. A simple key combination on the remote activates the top. “Our customers can now initiate the top opening

sequence while approaching the car, get in and start the engine, driving off with the top already down”, says PR Manager Sven Tornow. No separate remote or modification to the existing one is necessary. The windows can be controlled independently as well.

All individual features and functions of the SmartTOP module can be customized and configured to taste. The windows can be set to go up or stay down after opening the top. Configuration of the module can be done in the car using a signature input sequence. Alternatively a computer can be used in conjunction with the standard USB connection present in every one of Mods4cars’ products. The USB port also enables end-users to quickly update the product firmware. Updates and support software for Windows and Mac OS are available online, free of charge.

Thanks to the well thought-out SmartTOP add-on kit, an ongoing top operation can even be programmed to continue while the engine is being started or stopped. The entire module can be temporarily disabled while retaining all user settings. Installation is simple and straightforward, requires only basic knowledge and does not involve cutting or soldering. The kit can easily be removed if necessary.

SmartTOP modules are also available for Porsche 911 Convertibles (all model years).
