2009-11-11 18:35:40 - SingleHop offers new line of only Xeon based servers. High power, green efficiency, low cost servers.

Chicago, IL: November 11, 2009: SingleHop, the Chicago-based web hosting provider, today announced an expansion to its server line with the addition of brand-new, high-performance and efficient Xeon servers based on the new Lynnfield processor design.
This is the latest in a series of upgrades designed to bring SingleHop’s top-of-the-line servers to be wholly comprised of Xeon-based hardware. Previously, SingleHop’s server

line was upgraded in August to feature Intel’s new Core2Quad processors. SingleHop clients have always enjoyed exceptional scalability, reliability, performance and efficiency; now they can experience the added benefit of access to Intel’s latest technology through this new processor line.
The new “Lynnfield” architecture brings, according to Intel, “the most revolutionary design changes since the invention of the PCI bus in the early 1990s. Taking all of the features into account, these chipsets now produce absolute "intelligent" performance when necessary and optimum power-efficiency when the computer is lightly loaded.” Furthermore, Intel states that these processors are “the first to integrate a two-channel memory controller into the chip, enabling all input/output and manageability functions to be handled by the single chip.” Since previous Intel chipsets required two separate chips to do this, the new processors offer higher levels of performance while minimizing bottlenecks and power use.
“The Lynnfield Xeon processors hit a quick home-run with me,” remarked Zak Boca, President and CEO of SingleHop. “When it comes to deciding what new offerings to provide customers” Boca noted, “the level of performance, stability, and energy efficiency that these chips offer is hard to beat. Power is one of our largest expenses so our cost-benefit analysis clearly showed that these new Xeon’s would offer clients the most performance for their dollar, while helping us keep prices low through their breakthrough efficiency”.
SingleHop will begin offering the Xeon 3100, 3300 and 3400 as part of their high-performance server line and at lower prices than their previous offerings. The firm plans to continue to add even faster and more powerful Xeon models to their server line in the near future”.
