A British couple were forced to live in a shed on an allotment after their house was repossessed.
Philip and Debbie Galloway, from Hartlepool, North East England, made the move instead of relocating to one of the "run down" houses offered them by the council. They were evicted from their own property for failing to make mortgage payments.
Mrs Galloway, 31, said: "The allotment is cleaner than half the houses they've sent us too look at." During the move, the couple's four children - aged between four and 14 - stayed with relatives. After spending five weeks on the allotment, the council offered them temporary accommodation, but this is now unavailable. A spokesperson for the council said: "Given the efforts that have been made, we feel there is little else we can do."
