www.sevocity.com - Sevocity Catherine Huddle, 210-412-5653; chuddle@sevocity.com or Cardinal Consulting Chakisse Newton, 803-753-1311; media@cardinalconsulting.net Sevocity, a division of Conceptual MindWorks, Inc. (CMI), announced today that they have been selected by the Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) to participate in the Maryland Electronic Health Record (EHR) Adoption program. The MHCC is an independent state
regulatory agency that is committed to advancing the adoption and utilization of health information technology to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of health care delivery. The MHCC EHR adoption programs are in conjunction with the announcement from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) EHR Demonstration; for which MHCC, in collaboration with the Maryland and DC Medical Societies, received the first flagship award from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid for the upcoming EHR Demonstration project. In addition to the CMS demonstration, the state is developing other programs to assist physicians in the transition to EHRs, including the information garnered through the vendors.
The MHCC is committed to supporting Maryland physicians through this transition and has worked diligently with the EHR vendor community to be able to provide physicians with the key information necessary to assist physicians in the transition to EHRs. MHCC selected participants from a group of 2007 Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) EHR providers who completed a stringent evaluation process, which evaluated products, pricing, policies, and references. The MHCC selected Sevocity as part of this program based on demonstrations of Sevocity's product functionality, affordable pricing, appropriate privacy and security policies, and reference remarks. Particularly, the model that Sevocity offers provides physicians with an alternative to the standard software and license purchasing costs associated with the traditional EHR. Sevocity has extended a discount offer to Maryland physicians to assist MHCC in its effort to improve patient care by promoting the use of EHRs throughout the state. The MHCC has included Sevocity 5.0, which is a CCHIT Certified(R) product for CCHIT Ambulatory EHR 2007, for the MHCC vendor list.
The HHS grant program offers up to $58,000 per physician over 5 years to support the purchase of an EHR system. "Sevocity's affordable pricing will allow providers receiving the grants to implement Sevocity EHR at little or no net out of pocket costs over 5 years," said Gary Hynden, Regional Sales Manager for Sevocity who serves the Mid-Atlantic Region, including Maryland. Any Maryland or Washington, D.C. physician interested in participating in the CMS EHR demo can submit their information for consideration to:
cmsehrdemo@mhcc.state.md.us.
"We are very honored the state of Maryland has entrusted us with the important task of assisting their healthcare community in moving to EHRs," commented Elaine Mendoza, President and CEO of CMI and Sevocity. "Sevocity is committed to the state and federal ideals of promoting EHR adoption and system inter-operability; we will continue to ensure Sevocity is an outstanding system. To further demonstrate this commitment, Sevocity will offer discounted pricing to all providers in the Maryland program, whether or not they participate in the CMS EHR Demonstration".
