January 17, 2012 – Hartford, WI – Seatbelts everyone! Get on board with Ms. Frizzle and her class as they learn why it matters that the polar ice is melting and what they can do to help. A charming musical, The Magic School Bus Live! is coming to the Schauer Arts & Activities Center in Hartford on Friday, February 17 at 7:00 pm. Adapted for the stage by Bay Area Children’s Theatre, the show is based on the latest book by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge.

Ms. Frizzle’s students are putting on a play about global warming and they need some cold, hard facts. The Friz and her reptilian sidekick, Liz, know

just where to find them! This is no ordinary field trip, as a hop on the Magic School Bus takes the class and the audience on a whirlwind tour. From the arctic to the equator, they see telltale signs of climate change and learn how conservation, recycling, and alternative energy can make a difference.

The 60-minute performance of The Magic School Bus, Live! is recommended for ages 4 and up. Those who attend will have the opportunity to meet the cast in full costume after the show.

In addition, the performance will be preceded by a free art gallery reception from 6:00-7:00 pm for the Youth Art Exhibit. The exhibit features two dimensional student artwork from six area schools with the intent to encourage children to appreciate what an important role the arts play in a creative society. Light refreshments are available.

Tickets to see The Magic School Bus Live! are $17 for adults, $15 for students (13 and up), $12 for children (12 and under), and $5 for lap seats (3 and under). Tickets can be purchased at the Schauer Center Box Office Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm at
147 N. Rural Street in Hartford, charge by phone at 262-670-0560, ext. 3 or online at SchauerCenter.org.
