2009-02-28 17:10:57 - Gravitas Publications places its 2009 product catalog online prior to home school conference season. The curricula includes chemistry, biology and physics Student Texts, Teacher Manuals and Laboratory Workbooks for elementary students and allows different grade levels to be taught simultaneously. A subscription benefit offering online testing is now available.

More than 50 products in the 2009 Gravitas Publications catalog offer home-school parents a way to empower and engage children grades K through eight with easy-to-teach, real-world science. The catalog is available at select home-school conferences beginning March 1, 2009. It may also be downloaded online at www.gravitaspublications.com.

A growing cadre of users provides proof that Real Science-4-Kids and Kogs-4-KidsTM, both Gravitas teaching series, make a difference. Most testimonials point to the fact that Real Science-4-Kids and Kogs-4-Kids, affectionately called RS4K and K4K, provide science terms and concepts that aid later understanding. One user wrote:
"I wanted to share something pretty exciting about your Chemistry II book! My son is a student at New Mexico Tech in Socorro. He is taking chemistry

this semester, and it is his very first exposure to the subject, ever. He's a pretty smart guy and has had no trouble with algebra, trig., calc., or physics but has been just overwhelmed with the amount and difficulty of the information in his chemistry class. He had Friday off, due to Homecoming activities, and came up to the house. I'd told him about your book, and he spent three hours poring over it. Then several more hours on Saturday. His enthusiasm was tremendous. He said that concepts which had been presented in the most difficult manner possible in his college text, were suddenly clear to him after reading your book. He said that he feels as if he has a foundation, now, but really needs the next book to bridge the still-wide gap to his college text. Is there a Chemistry III? If so, I will buy it for him immediately." --Darienne Moriarity, New Mexico
Dozens of comments show Gravitas offers an easy way to teach different ages simultaneously with parallel chapter topics, an advantage for home school parents with children of different ages. A Yahoo! Group of more than 1100 offers ongoing discussion about RS4K.

In its new catalog, Gravitas introduces Club Services to provide continued, online support for those teaching with its products. Club Services allows members to access online student testing plus a growing library of articles, recordings, experiments and supplemental materials for only $5.00 per month, pre-paid annually. The mission of Gravitas Publications is to create a new science education paradigm through curricula teaching science literacy. RS4K and K4K bring inquiry, creativity, honesty, integrity, excellence, and balance to science education.

About Gravitas Publications:

Rebecca W. Keller, Ph.D., a former research assistant professor at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, worked in molecular biology, chemistry and neuroscience at the University of New Mexico before making the decision to become a home-school mom. After searching for a science curriculum that taught solid science concepts in a manner understandable for youngsters, she developed a series of textbooks, lab workbooks and teacher manuals called Real Science-4-Kids. In 2008 Gravitas introduced Kogs-4-Kids™ interdisciplinary supplementary materials to provide a framework - or context - for science so the student sees how science is a part of everyday life. Kogs connect the core subjects to each other and to mathematics to build a solid foundation to strengthen learning experiences for children. For more information, see www.gravitaspublications.com.
