2008-05-18 11:13:50 - Sarah Jessica Parker loves British fashion and was "thrilled" to have Alexander McQueen and Philip Treacy design her premiere outfit.

Sarah Jessica Parker loves British fashion. The actress - who plays fashion conscious Carrie Bradshaw in 'Sex and the City: The Movie' - was "thrilled" when Brit designers Alexander McQueen and Philip Treacy offered to design her outfit

for the film's world premiere in London. She said: "Alexander is one of the most talented designers of his time and he's uniquely British. And Philip is probably the greatest hatmaker of his time. "So I was thrilled they wanted to make something for me for the premiere." The 43-year-old beauty wore a green dress by McQueen and a green butterfly hat by Treacy. The actress' unusual choice of headwear has been the subject of much debate by fashion critics, but Parker says she felt it was appropriate because of the setting. She added: "In Britain you have a long tradition of wearing hats and you do it better than anybody. "We don't have the same courage in America. When in Rome, as they say..." Parker was thrilled with the rapturous reception she and her co-stars, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis, received at Monday night's (12.05.08) premiere. She added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "If we had dared to dream what our world premiere would be like... it more than surpassed our wildest expectations. "It was the spirit of the crowd, the great reception, how hospitable and how committed they were."
