- Sara Lee Corp. (NYSE: SLE) today announced that it has appointed Margaret (Peggy) M. Foran to executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective June 30, 2008.

Foran, 53, will have responsibility for the company's worldwide legal activities. She will also lead Sara Lee's Global Business Practices, risk management, internal audit and insurance activities, as well as environmental, safety and sustainability efforts. She will report to Brenda C. Barnes, chairman and chief executive officer, Sara Lee Corp.

a reputation for the highest levels of personal integrity."

Foran most recently served as senior vice president, associate general counsel and corporate secretary for Pfizer, Inc., the world's largest research-based pharmaceutical company with more than $48 billion in sales.

Prior to joining Pfizer, Foran was an associate general counsel and assistant secretary of ITT Corporation. Before that, Foran spent 12 years at J.P Morgan & Co, Inc. where she was a vice president, assistant general counsel and assistant secretary for the company, as well as secretary of Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York. Foran began her career in private practice.

Foran earned her bachelor's and J.D. degrees from the University of Notre Dame.
