- Give three cheers for the red, white and blue this July 3rd, at Paradise Point Resort & Spa's 8th annual "All American BBQ and Fireworks Extravaganza," featuring live entertainment, a truly Americana BBQ and the city's largest display of fireworks over Mission Bay, lasting a full 30 minutes.

The event, open to the public, begins with an all-you-can-eat,

family-style Kansas City barbeque, the perfect salute to the stars and stripes. Afterward, families can see a brilliant display of San Diego's largest and most breathtaking fireworks show over beautiful Mission Bay. And, it doesn't stop there. Guests staying over that night at Paradise Point will be able to see displays of fireworks around Mission Bay, through the Fourth of July.

Live entertainment signals the roll-out of the grand barbecue beginning at 6 p.m., with a bountiful buffet-style barbecue of creatively prepared, mouthwatering meats, such as St. Louis-style pork ribs, burnt end of beef and brisket and hickory smoked chicken. Complementing the meats will be a wide array of tantalizing salads and sides, such as fresh dill and potato salad, cheesy corn, dirty rice, tossed green salad, with choice of Texas-style ranch dressing or champagne vinaigrette, and cornbread muffins. Cold beverages and desserts, including bread pudding with bourbon whiskey sauce and apple and pecan tarts are the grand finale. Kids will love the face painters, hair braiders, balloons and other activities.

Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. The price is $72 for adults, $29 for children aged 12 and under, and it includes tax and gratuity.

To purchase advance tickets or for additional information on overnight resort packages and rates, guests may call (858) 274-4630, or toll free (800) 344-2626.

The 44-acre Paradise Point Resort & Spa is home to many of San Diego's most popular community events, which include an annual Easter egg hunt and an extravagant and festive holiday tree-lighting ceremony.

Paradise Point was named one of the "Top Ten Family Resorts in the World" by Forbes.com. AOL City Guide recently rated the resort as best choice for outdoor drinks at the resort's Barefoot Bar & Grill, and best outdoor dining at its fine-dining restaurant, BALEENsandiego.
