2008-09-23 19:23:12 - SAMAA shares the life of soldiers at the border on the line of control near Chakothi

ISLAMABAD, 23 September, 2008 - The Chief Executive Officer of SAMAA TV, Mr. Amir Jahangir and his team visited the Infantry Battalion Chakothi located at the Line of Control (LOC) to support the troops and officers, who have dedicated their lives to protect and defend their country.

Mr. Amir Jahangir addressed the battalion by appreciating the efforts, dedication and sacrifices of

the Pakistan Arm Forces for its nation. Mr. Jahangir also expressed that the holy month of Ramadan is a special month for elevating our spirits - a time for inner reflection, devotion to God, and self-control. He commended the troops and officers for showing such high spirits although being far away from their families and loved ones and assured them that the nation was very proud of its defense forces and their vigilant commitment.

Commanding Officer of the visited battalion, Lt. Col. Mazhar said that he and his unit were thankful to SAMAA TV for taking out time to visit the area and his men. 'We live in a very rough area and are on a very important mission for our country. We realize the great faith, which our people have bestowed upon us and we assure that we honour this responsibility with dignity'. Lt. Col. Mazhar thanked Mr. Jahangir and his team for their support and said that through SAMAA, today he and his men felt the presence of the entire nation.

The SAMAA team spent two days with the battalion - from sunrise to sunset and followed them in their daily routines, among other witnessing the LOC flag meeting and crossing. The LOC crossing event through exchange of passengers is a monthly goodwill act from both sides of the border and will take place onwards on alternate weeks.

Mr. Amir Jahangir also shared that media has an important role to play in creating value for the community and the audience it caters for. He assured that SAMAA would continue to play an active role in bringing a positive change in the social, political and economic scenario in Pakistan.

This special visit was also broadcasted on SAMAA TV in a special Iftar Programme, 'Iftar Ka Samaa', which is a series of Iftar Programmes being launched nationwide by SAMAA TV. In the programme, each day SAMAA dedicates a special segment to important and special members of its community. The aim of the programme is to lift the spirits and hopes of all community members and aspire towards a prosperous future, promoting political, social and economic development of the country.
