2014-02-27 08:55:33 - WAVES - The Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Poetry Festival has been organised from March 01-03, 2014. It is a kind of effort to bring people of different countries & culture all together with a hope to begin an era of sheer love and peace.
Sahitya Akademi , India's National Academy of Letters, is the central institution for literary dialogue, publication and promotion in the country and the only institution that undertakes literary activities in twenty-four Indian languages, including English.
Now Sahitya Akademi is coming up with something really magnificent, "WAVES - The Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Poetry Festival" from March 01-03, 2014.
The Indian Ocean Rim constitutes not merely a geographical area, but a cultural one too. These countries got connected long ago through sea routes and exchanged ideas, concepts and forms of art. It is extremely important to retrieve that partly lost organic connection, both politically and culturally. And what can connect nations and peoples better than poetry?
50 Poets from 19 countries along the
India Ocean Rim will be showcasing their poetic waves that will serve as a feast to the lovers of literature. Festival will bring together poets from IORA countries, including the poets representing Indian languages.
Some of the prominent poets that will be present are Shiv K. Kumar (India), Nabaneeta Deb Sen (India), Surjit Patar (India), Nida Fazli (India), Edwin Thumboo (Singapore), Abdul Jabbar Kakaei (Iran), K. Satchidanandan (India)
