	<title>French navy ship nears Myanmar, still awaiting permission to land 1,500 tons of aid</title>
	<description>

(PR-inside.com) YANGON, Myanmar (AP) - A French navy ship approached Myanmar's cyclone-devastated Irrawaddy delta Saturday, but was still awaiting permission from the ruling military regime to dock and unload 1,500 tons of aid.
The junta said Friday that the official death toll from the storm has nearly doubled to 78,000 with 55,917 missing. Aid groups have said the toll is probably about 128,000, with many more deaths possible from disease and starvation unless help is provided quickly to some 2.5 million survivors.
But despite possessing little means to deliver aid quickly and efficiently, ..

	<title>Brazil crackdown on illegal logging brings only temporary success</title>
	<description>

(PR-inside.com) TAILANDIA, Brazil (AP) - Acrid smoke from charcoal-making blankets this Amazon logging town with the smell of business as usual.
Less than three months ago, federal agents swooped in to close sawmills, confiscate wood and smash charcoal furnaces in a government crackdown on illegal logging.
But tractors are moving logs again in Tailandia, as Brazil's renowned environment minister resigned this week, and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met Friday with Latin American and European leaders seeking to combat climate change.
Locals are back to turning wood scraps into charcoal.
«It's starting up again, but ..

	<title>Taiwan's defeated party to elect new leader</title>
	<description>

(PR-inside.com) TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) - Taiwan's outgoing ruling party made final preparations Saturday for a leadership election it hopes will help it rally from landslide defeats this year in presidential and legislative polls.
The Democratic Progressive Party, or DPP, led Taiwan for eight years under President Chen Shui-bian. But after the legislative drubbing in a January vote and its presidential poll humiliation two months later, its standing has sunk to the lowest level in its 22-year history.
Chen leaves office Tuesday, succeeded by Ma Ying-jeou of the main opposition Nationalists. Ma defeated current DPP ..
