The publication created the list to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the accounting profession, which are credited with benefiting the nation's economy, its workforce and businesses.

Accounting Today's "Best Accounting Firms to Work for" list is comprised of 60 companies split into three groups based on size: small-sized firms (15-24 employees), medium-sized firms (25-249 employees) and large-sized firms (more than 250 employees) . RSM McGladrey was one of 15 in the large-sized category. The publication will post the rankings of the individual companies listed within the

individual categories in its January 2009 issue.

RSM McGladrey has nearly 100 offices in cities around the U.S., including Mid-Atlantic offices in Timonium, Frederick and Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Vienna and Richmond, Virginia. This year, RSM McGladrey was also listed on BusinessWeek's "Best Places to Launch a Career" list. In addition, Steve Tait, president of RSM McGladrey, was included on Accounting Today's list of " Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting" for the fourth year in a row.

RSM McGladrey, along with firms from across the country, entered a two-part survey process to determine the "Best Accounting Firms to Work for." The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
