Rock Out to a Different Beat with Vocal Trash at the Schauer Center

January 12, 2012 – Hartford, WI – Combine the percussive power of STOMP with the vocal styling of The Nylons, toss in some horns, acoustic guitars, and a touch of comedy to create Vocal Trash. Designed to mix tight harmonies of rock ‘n’ roll and oldies with the contemporary beats of "Street Instruments," Vocal Trash will deliver a sound not soon forgotten at the Schauer Arts & Activities Center on Friday, February 10 at 7:30 pm.
Utilizing the universal languages of music

and dance, Vocal Trash crosses cultural barriers with exciting awareness of all things positive, specifically saving the planet. The Texas based group is extensively trained and have been singing, drumming, dancing, and playing various instruments for over a decade appearing at some of the country’s largest festivals, theaters, and state fairs including the Wisconsin State Fair.
The goal of Vocal Trash is to entertain, create awareness, and incorporate recycling into of our daily life. These street performing recycling gurus reuse ordinary objects like car parts, trash cans, lids, water bottles, barrels, pots, pans, buckets, and brooms to create a high energy variety show fun for all ages.
In addition, the show will be preceded by a SoundBites performance by Hartford Union High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Dave Vandermeuse, from 6:15 to 7:00 pm in Pikes Peak. Cash bar will be available; advance reservations recommended.

Tickets to see Vocal Trash are $22 or $18 for adults, $20 or $16 for students. Mention RUSH11 and get the advance student rush price of $12 or $10. Tickets can be purchased at the Schauer Center Box Office Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm at 147 N. Rural Street in Hartford, charge by phone at 262-670-0560, ext. 3 or online at SchauerCenter.org.

The performance of Vocal Trash is sponsored by the Lutz Family Foundation. Media support is provided by The Booster, Charter Media, Cruisin’ 1540 AM, Dodge County Pionier, WMDC 98.8 FM, and WHAD 90.7 FM. Additional funding provided by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board.

With the Ruth A. Knoll Theater and Suckow Family Art Gallery, the Schauer Arts & Activities Center is a non-profit regional center for the arts, staging professional touring performances, as well as presentations by the Hartford City Band, Hartford Community Chorus, The Hartford Players, and the Kettle Moraine Fine Arts Guild. The Schauer Center also offers visual and performing arts classes for all ages. Facilities are available to rent for social and business functions.
