MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. and GATLINBURG, Tenn. (April 11, 2008) - Earth Day is approaching and the people at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies and Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach are throwing a big, fun and earth-friendly party!
While Earth Day isn't officially until Tuesday, April 22, the aquariums are rolling out the fun on Saturday, April 19 when they throw
a 'Party for the Planet.' The plaza areas of both of Ripley's world class aquariums will be overflowing with displays and activities from various state, county and local environmental and conservation groups.
'We are taking the conservation message of Earth Day very seriously and want to help educate everyone about what they can do to help save the planet, which of course is serious business,' said Joe Choromanski, VP Animal Husbandry for Ripley Aquariums. 'But that doesn't mean we can't all have fun doing it!' Choromanski notes that it will be hard not to have fun on Saturday while all members of the family have an opportunity to learn about everything from recycling, composting and ways to save the oceans, to alternate fuel and saving energy - all in a fun way.
Activities at Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Gatlinburg. All outside activities and events are free, while special programming inside requires aquarium admission.
