2013-12-05 14:22:08 - Office furniture supply and design specialist Rio Designs has recently been working with leading serviced office provider United Business Centres (UBC) to complete the first stage of a major refurbishment of offices in Southampton’s prestigious Ocean Village development.
Enterprise House, a former dockside warehouse built in the 1840s, provides three floors of serviced offices totalling 15,000 sq ft. Derrick Dickinson from Rio Designs worked closely with UBC to select furniture that would complement its historic surroundings and yet be modern in appearance and make best use of the available space.
Richard Johnson, Operations Director for UBC said, “We presented Rio Designs with our initial CAD plans for the interior of the office. Derrick has many years’ experience in office design and he put a lot of time and effort into creating an attractive and practical environment for our clients. Little things like making sure people weren’t faced with a storage cabinet when they entered the office and creating attractive
comfortable breakout areas makes all the difference.”
Derrick recommended a French manufacturer, Buronomic office furniture, which had not previously been used by UBC and arranged for the team to visit the company’s showroom. They were impressed by what they saw and Rio Designs supplied all the desking and storage furniture from the Buronomic range. One important reason for choosing Buronomic was their willingness to manufacture desks measuring 1400 x 700 - built to Rio’s specification - rather than the traditional 1400 x 800. These give more flexibility and can be more easily configured to suit the available space and the client’s needs. Office seating - again built to Rio’s specifications - and furniture for the breakout areas completed the package.

The next development is in central Birmingham and is due to open early next year. The company is keen to partner other building owners with property in suitable locations, including Manchester, Reading, Swindon and Cardiff.
