As general manager for Cardiff he is responsible for all trunking operations and national distribution from RDL’s South Wales site, and the management of the 80,000sqft warehouse.
“Although Rhys Davies is a major player in the logistics industry it is a privately owned business and remains very agile,” said John. “Decisions can be made quickly within the management team, and that’s important in a fast moving environment like ours.”
lives in nearby Clevedon with his wife Clare and their 13 year-old twins. When he is not working John spends his time coaching his local junior rugby team and also takes part in Gig rowing, a popular sport in coastal regions of the West Country.
Tom Craik has been involved in transport all his working life and has held senior positions with a number of major companies including Volvo and DHL where he was responsible for the company’s domestic freight network in the UK.
As general manager Tom is now responsible for RDL’s activities in Scotland which includes the management of 20 staff, 14 vehicles and a 20,000sqft warehouse.
“Having spent 35 years in the logistics industry working for some of the biggest players in the business I’m hoping to use my experience to help Rhys Davies continue to grow and in particular to develop the site in Scotland,” said Tom.
Tom lives in his home town of Falkirk with his wife Yvonne and 19 year-old son Cameron. Tom plays in a five-a-side football team and also enjoys cycling in the Scottish countryside.
Paul Hodgkiss, Operations Director at RDL said, “It’s vitally important to have experienced people running our operations and with Tom Craik and John McGuigan we have two highly experienced managers. I am delighted to have them in our management team and we look forward to them applying their experience in the development of their colleagues and the wider business.”
