2012-11-14 07:35:35 - Former Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism joins D.C. office

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Resolute Consulting expands its national security strategy and communications practice with the addition of John Cohen, former Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), as executive vice president in Washington, D.C.

John will work with Resolute Consulting clients to assess the public environment surrounding complex issues and develop strategic communications and outreach strategies to help solve them. He will leverage his extensive experience working with the news media and preparing and implementing crisis communications plans for public and private sector entities.

and solutions will further complement our growing team.”

At DHS, John also served as a Senior Advisor on counterterrorism, law enforcement and information sharing issues to both the Deputy Secretary and Secretary. In this capacity he coordinated the development and implementation of Department-wide counterterrorism operational activities and programs to include those associated with detection and prevention of, response to, and recovery from acts of terrorism in the United States, including cyber attacks. This involved coordination with the private sector and state and local governments, helping develop the critical infrastructure needed at all levels.

John has an extensive background in homeland security, cybersecurity, law enforcement operations and policy development. He was Senior Homeland Security Policy Advisor to the Governors of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Arizona. In 2004 he was selected by National Journal as one of the “100 Key People in Homeland Security.” He is a Senior Homeland Security Fellow at George Washington University.
