Residents representing baseball, golf, soccer, softball and tennis are sought to enter to win a chance to ride on the City's float, which will include members of the Mission Viejo Nadadores diving into 14,000 gallons of water as the float travels down the five-and-a-half mile Rose Parade route. Residents sought for ‘once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity to ride on City's 2009
Rose Parade float
Residents have - what could be - a 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity to ride on the City of Mission Viejo's 2009 Rose Parade float and be seen by more than 40 million people nationwide and millions across the globe who will tune in to the 120th Tournament of Roses Parade
on Jan. 1.
The Tournament of Roses Committee selected the City to present a flower-bedecked float as part of Mission Viejo's 20th anniversary celebration. The City's float entry, 'Making a Splash,' depicts life in this South County city by showcasing community and recreational activities as 'entertainment.' The community float coincides with the parade's 'Hats off to Entertainment' theme.
The deadline to submit an entry to ride high atop the City's float is Oct. 23. To submit an entry and for more information, visit the City's Web site at www.cityofmissionviejo.org. The winners will be announced at 6 p.m. on Oct. 25 during the City's Hometown Halloween Community event at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.
An informational meeting - the first of three other required meetings - will follow on Nov. 17 for selected float riders. It will take place at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 200 Civic Center.
Residents are encouraged to visit the City's blog at
missionviejolife.org and signup for its E-news at www.cityofmissionviejo.org to stay apprised of float-decorating opportunities and related exciting activities leading up to the 120th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena.
