MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 12/11/12 -- "The numbers may be small initially, but there is a potential for growth here and everyone involved is optimistic about the future," said an enthusiastic IAM District 140 Representative George Bujold. Bujold was commenting on new job opportunities for former AVEOS workers with the re-opening of the former AVEOS component maintenance facility by AJW Technique. Almost 1800 IAM members across the country, including 1200 in Montreal, lost their jobs when AVEOS closed its doors in March of this year.

More than 280 former AVEOS workers attended a formal meeting with representatives of AJW Technique over the weekend to discuss future employment possibilities in accordance with the carefully phased opening schedule.

The initial start-up will be with eight employees in early January 2013, expanding to 50 by mid-April and depending upon the market, more by the end of next year. AJW Technique will provide a broad range of component repair and overhaul services to the AJ Walter Aviation customer base of more than 800 airlines around the world. AJW companies are based out of London, Singapore, Dubai, Miami and Montreal with strategic spares stock held at these locations; across the UK, Europe and North America.

The IAM is the largest union in the Canadian air Transport and aerospace sectors.
