Heathrow, Fla. – Remington College congratulates instructor Jon Shaw on being named Local Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by Florida Governor Rick Scott and Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey.
Shaw received the honor at the annual Florida Missing Children’s Day in Tallahassee.
Shaw, a lieutenant with the Margate Police Department in Broward County, received the award for his role in helping rescue a child who was the victim of an online predator.
Shaw is also a criminal justice instructor with Remington College Online.

the community and in the classroom.”
In addition to the Local Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award, Shaw has also been named the 2012 Margate Police Officer of the Year and the 2013 International Officer of the Year by the American Society of Industrial Security, a trade organization made up of security specialists from around the world.
Shaw is an instructor for several classes in the Remington College Criminal Justice online program, including Law Enforcement Operations and Community Policing, Criminal Investigations and Evidence Processing, Criminal Justice Management and Vice, Narcotics & Crime Intelligence. He has been a Remington College instructor since September of 2012.
