The European Business Awards sponsored by RSM International engaged with over 24,000 companies from 33 countries in the entry stage of the competition this year, 40% more than last year.

The competition, now in its 8th year, subsequently saw an entry increase in most of its categories, with key increases being the Business of the Year Award category in the two turnover brackets of €0-25m and €150m or higher, and the RSM Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The top three sectors represented this year are IT Technology, Manufacturing and Food and Drink.

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards said: “This shows that businesses of all sizes in Europe understand the commercial and motivational power of being a winner. The increase in engagement is also reflective of a powerful mix including recovering economies, stronger business performances and greater competition.”

Jean Stephens, CEO of RSM International, said: “It is great to see this overall increase, and we are delighted to see so many entrepreneurs participating. We know from our member firms around the world that interest in these Awards and its winners continues to grow. There are some very exciting companies across a diverse range of sectors this year. We look forward to watching their progress.”

Following a first round of judging, an announcement of the ‘National Champions’ of Europe will be made on the 4th September.

Supported since their inception by lead sponsor and promoter RSM International, the seventh largest audit, tax and advisory network accountancy network worldwide with a major presence across Europe, the European Business Awards was set up to recognise and reward excellence, best practice and innovation. It is also supported by key influencers including EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht.
