The waste collections and recycling specialist, Waste King, has reported a record month for its waste collection activities in October.
During the month, the company collected, among other things:
• Over 11,000 kilogrammes of wood
• Over 2,500 kilogrammes of cardboard
• Nearly 5,200 kilogrammes of hardcore, in addition to
• Nearly 50,000 kilogrammes of ‘general’ waste
“Roughly 80 per cent of all this waste came from commercial sources, while the rest came from the domestic market,” revealed Waste King’s Glenn Currie.
“It’s encouraging to see that more and more people – both in businesses and where their own homes are concerned – are becoming increasingly keen on disposing of their waste in the most ecologically efficient way,” he said.
“The more waste that can be segregated before collection, the less waste needs to go into the landfill sites which are beginning to cause concern
for environmentalists and others who are concerned about the well-being of our environment and, ultimately, the planet,” he added.
This increased business activity – which has seen Waste King increase its revenue by seven per cent month on month this year - has prompted the company to enlarge its labour force to cope with the growth in demand for environmentally friendly waste collection, clearance and recycling.
