2013-12-05 19:24:43 - Global event for the medical, oil and gas, and aerospace industries, today announced its 7th Annual Explorations event and webinar to foster discovery through collaboration
What: Pumps & Pipes, a global event for the medical, oil and gas, and aerospace industries, today announced its 7th Annual Explorations event and webinar to foster discovery through collaboration. On December 9 from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm CST, three of Houston's major industries will examine the many similarities in the technologies they use and the challenges these industries face. Attendees will examine the parallels and seek to find global solutions during live demonstrations and video feeds from Energy, Cardiovascular Medicine, NASA, Academia, and Education, facilitating problem solving by exploring “the other guys toolkit.”
Verdande Technology, provider of real-time decision management and surveillance solutions, has partnered with Pumps & Pipes to drive forward that initiative. Exhibiting at the event, Verdande
Technology will showcase how it is enabling organizations to minimize risk and turn data into actionable intelligence. During live demonstrations, Verdande Technology will be showcasing VTEdge, its core platform which drives predictive analytics for clients across the financial services, healthcare, and oil & gas industries as well as its DrillEdge™ and VTHeart applications.
Monday, December 9
8:00 AM – 6:00 PM CST
Event: Methodist Hospital, Houston Methodist Research Institute
Main Auditorium, 2nd Floor
6670 Bertner Avenue, Houston, Texas
Webinar: Global participants are encouraged to join and register to listen in during the event

About Pumps & Pipes:
Three of Houston's major industries—medicine, oil and gas and aerospace –surprisingly have discovered many similarities in the technologies they use and the challenges they face. This discovery prompted a meeting to examine the parallels and determine if there are crossover technologies that could benefit each. The solution to our problems most likely lie in someone else's toolbox–the challenge is in finding it.
A significant problem in medical technology, and perhaps the energy and aerospace business, is that developers are very in-bred, exposed only to like-thinking individuals, which prevent innovation and maturation of “out of the box” ideas. We believe that great benefit may be gained by exposing cardiovascular and imaging researchers to technology currently available in the aerospace and oil and gas world. We therefore created a problem-focused forum to analyze issues relevant to these three worlds, presenting and discussing with opposite industry counterparts, in an exploration of complementary technologies.
