Pacific Life Annuities & Mutual Funds Division Names New Management Team

Pacific Life Insurance Company today announced changes in the management team of the Annuities & Mutual Funds Division. The changes followed the announcement that Dewey Bushaw became executive Vice President of Pacific Life's Annuities & Mutual Funds Division effective January 1, 2009. He succeeded Bill Robinson, who retired after a 14-year career at Pacific Life, 11 of those overseeing the Annuities & Mutual Funds Division.


Chris van Mierlo was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Sales. John White has been appointed Vice President, Sales, a newly created position and Christine Tucker was promoted to Vice President, Marketing. Assuming national sales management responsibility by channel will be Jack Hunter, Regional/Wirehouse; Stuart Holland, Independent Planner; and George Paulik, Bank/Financial Institutions.


Kathleen McWard, Vice President, Marketing, and Bob Bruno, Vice President, National Sales Manager, announced their retirements.


Over the past 17 years, Kathleen has been an outstanding contributor and an innovative leader at Pacific Life. During her career, she was instrumental in the success of the Annuities & Mutual Funds Division and the Pacific Life Funds. "Kathleen has been a visionary in product design, the designer of Portfolio Optimization, the company's asset allocation service available with Pacific Life variable annuities," said Bushaw.


Bob was a leader in building a sales distribution model for the Annuities & Mutual Funds Division that helped place Pacific Life in the top 10 variable annuity companies in the industry. "During his career, he has been instrumental in the success of our division and has brought great insight into the building of our successful field wholesaling team through motivation, and leading by example," said Bushaw.


Chris van Mierlo, CMO and Senior Vice President, Sales


Chris began his career at Pacific Life in 1995, following eight years of experience in sales management. He joined the company as Assistant Vice President, National Sales Manager, in the Life Insurance Division's variable products area. He was promoted to Vice President, National Accounts, in the Annuities & Mutual Funds Division in 2000, with responsibility for managing all aspects of new and existing relationships across the division's distribution channels and regional lines. In his role as Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Sales, Chris will provide oversight, strategic direction, and leadership to the Sales and Marketing departments. He will direct the formulation of sales plans in support of profitable returns and business growth through product development and sales. Chris has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.


John White, Vice President, Sales


John joined Pacific Life in 1994 as a Marketing Services Representative in the Annuities Division. He had six years of experience in sales and marketing prior to coming to Pacific Life. He was promoted to Marketing Services Manager in 1996, Marketing Services Director in 1997, and Assistant Vice President, Internal Wholesaling in 1999. In 2006, John was named Vice President, Internal Wholesaling. In his role as Vice President, Sales, John will manage all aspects of new and existing relationships across the division's distribution channels and regional lines in order to grow distribution of Pacific Life products. He will also manage the Conference Planning department and will retain oversight of the Internal Wholesaling department and Sales Training and Strategic Sales Initiatives. Prior to joining Pacific Life, John served in the Marine Corps and earned a bachelor's degree in Finance from Drexel University in Pennsylvania.


Christine Tucker, Vice President, Marketing


Christine has over 20 years of experience in product development, investment management, and marketing. She came to Pacific Life this year as Assistant Vice President, Marketing Communications, from MetLife where she was the Vice President, Investment Marketing. Her prior experience at Jackson National Life and Shapiro Consulting Group have provided her with a fresh approach in both the variable and fixed annuity environment. Christine will have responsibility for Marketing Communications, Internet Marketing, Channel Marketing, Investment Marketing, Advanced Marketing, and Product Development. Christine will be responsible for the development and execution of the division's product and marketing strategy. She attended California State University, Fullerton.
