Slow sales and the reduction in vat generates keen prices in the private plates market.

Has there ever been a better time to buy private number plates? The reduction of vat on the 1st December has combined with a slowdown in sales due to the credit crunch to produce bargain prices in the private number plates market. Dealers are keen to get sales in the run up to Christmas as January is traditionally a very slow month anyway. Entry level prefix registrations at Northumbria Numbers for example
now start from £261.70, down from £268 in November. Discounts can be negotiated on more expensive registrations which when added to the vat reductions mean that customers are buying at very keen prices. From an investment point of view, this is good news as , when the economy returns to normality they should see the value of their private number plates rise back to a normal level. Over the last 20 years private number plates have proved a sound investment with the past few months being the first time that values have gone into decline.
