Assam train blast kills three injure thirty

Another bomb explosion, one at Assam,Indias eastern border state, planted by suspected Karbi militants, blast occurred inside a passenger train at Diphu station of central Assam on Tuesday morning killing three and injuring thirty. Northern Eastern railway officials,sources at Diphu police station said the passenger train, travelling from Guwahati to Tinsukia, was stationed at Diphu when the blast took place in coach no 8209 of the train at 0810 hrs.The coach was packed with passengers and as a result, three people died on the spot while the injured were shifted to two Diphu civil hospitals and Lumding railway hospital, the sources said.
Police suspected that bomb was planted by Karbi militants at Lumding station, the one preceding Diphu.It came exactly a month after the 30th October serial blasts of Assam which left 89 people dead.
The new Assam DGP G M Srivastava, who was appointed only on MOnday night, had said his first priority was to restore confidence amongst the ordinary people.
But in another eastern state the polling is underway in Mizoram to elect its 40-member state assembly . The polling began at 7.00 in the morning and it will close at 4.00 p.m. An official in Aizwal South Constituency reports that Polling is underway peacefully and no untoward incident has been reported so far.
After the successful completion of three phases of polling in Jammu and Kashmir , attention of the authorities is now focused on fourth phase of polling scheduled to be held on 7th of this month for 18 assembly seats in districts of Reasi, Udhampur, Baramulla and Budgam.
The official correspondent in Aizwal South Constituency reports that Voters queuing up for the polling booth and it looks like there is going to be a good turnout at this point.
Security measures are stringent and the NGOs like the MPF and YMA are also on duty to guide the voters.
West Bengal, 23 Bangladeshi nationals coming from Mumbai were arrested at the Petrapoll border in Bongaon in the north 24-parganas district. The arrested people were without passport and they have been arrested by the BSF.Meanwhile, 3 other Bangladeshi Nationals were arrested from south 24-parganas for not having valid documents. The arrested belong to Khulna and Cox's Bazar Districts of Bangladesh. The arrests come close on the heels of the nabbing of 4 other Bangladeshi Nationals in the same district within two days for not having valid papers. AIR Correspondent reports that the arrests assume significance in the light of the recent terror attacks in the country where names of fundamentalists organizations based in Bangladesh have come up.
