The XTRAC Excimer Laser, developed by PhotoMedex, is a hand-held laser that Dr. Richard Eisen and Dr. Ramzi Saad of South Shore Skin Center are utilizing in the treatment of stubborn psoriasis and vitiligo. The XTRAC laser delivers an intense beam of focused laser light to the affected area, leaving the surrounding healthy tissue alone. This particular laser treatment is highly effective and is typically used on less than 10 percent of the body area.
The benefits of using the XTRAC laser include: An effective clearing of the skin in 10 or fewer sessions; long lasting relief for months and treatment sessions that last only a few minutes. Patients do not need to follow a special skin care regimen or use special creams following treatment.
Additionally, XTRAC laser treatments are considered medical treatments and are covered by most major medical insurance companies.
