United Nations Official hails Jordanian King's Qatar visit

Doha (November 25, 2008): The Goodwill Ambassador for the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), the Permanent Observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, Dr. Naseer Shahir Homoud has welcomed the Jordanian King's visit to Qatar calling it a boost to the Arab solidarity and unity.

The UN official hailed the initiatives taken by Qatar and Jordan to open new chapters of cooperation and coordination. He was reacting a day after the visit of Jordanian King His Majesty King Abdulla II to Qatar on an official visit.

His Majesty the King Abdulla II and his consort Her Majesty Queen Rania accompanying a high level delegation were in Qatar on an invitation from His Highness the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al- Thani to discuss bilateral, regional and other International issues.

In his Press Statement, Dr. Naseer Shahir Homoud said that a series of talks held at Emiri Diwan chaired by His Highness the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al- Thani and Jordan's King His Majesty King Abdulla II will certainly add new chapters in Qatar- Jordan relationships giving impetus to the ongoing Middle East peace process.

He said revision of bilateral ties and discussing and developing means to enhance them in all domains by the both visionary leaders were a very positive meticulous move to strengthen their historic relationships.

He hoped that the signing of the additional protocol to the agreement of regulating recruitment of Jordanian manpower between Qatar and Jordan as well as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on mutual recognition of certificates, in accordance with international conventions for the training and qualifications levels, will soon bring positive outcomes.

The UN official said Qatar and Jordan have a lot many similarities while dealing with all International concerns.

He said it was worth to highlight the magnificent comprehensive works of our two respected ladies who have indeed brought unique fame and appreciation for the region and community as well.

'Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al- Missned and Her Majesty Queen Rania have done tremendous achievements across the world in various arenas. Both have raised voices and concerns on a number of social issues ensuring the new world order in a pragmatic way. They raised concerns about education, feminism, downtrodden, physically challenged persons, marginalized peoples, poor innocents, unheard masses and orphans among others with concrete remedial approaches', Dr. Naseer said.

He thanked both reverend ladies for their efforts for the humanity.

Expressing optimism, Dr. Homoud said the His Majesty's visit would positively evolve Qatar- Jordan relationship at climax which was indeed for the interest of the citizens of two nations.
