Summary
Nuclear energy is important for its use in nuclear power which is a significant part of power industry. Nuclear power plays an important role in global energy projects for it doesn't pollute the air. China is no exception in using this new energy.
China initiated its nuclear power industry in 1985, it has installed 11 nuclear power units during 23 years since 1985 with installed gross capacity about 9 million KW.
China's nuclear power plants mainly gather in the coastal areas such as Zhejiang, Guangdong and Jiangsu including the following projects: Qinshan nuclear power plant (phase 1, 2, 3), Dayawan nuclear power plant, Lingao nuclear power plant (phase 1), Tianwan nuclear power plant. The nuclear power technology mainly come from France, Canada, Russia, it is improved after being introduced into China. However, China has successfully developed its own nuclear power technology which is used in Qinshan nuclear power plant (phase 1)
Many nuclear power plants are under construction in these coastal provinces such as Guangdong, Zhejiang, Liaoning, Fujian and Shandong since 2005. Meanwhile, as the demand of power is increasing, many inland nuclear power plants will be constructed in these interior provinces such as Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Sichuan and Chongqing. The patterns that nuclear power plant can only be constructed in coastal areas in the last decades will be changed.
The unprecedented snow disaster in early 2008 has drawn people's more attention. Under such situation, China begins to attach great importance to the development of nuclear power.
In 2006, "Medium and Long-term Development Plan for Nuclear Power (2005-2020)" has been approved in China, with the following goal: by 2020, China's nuclear power installed capacity will account for 4% of power installed gross capacity, adding up to 40 million KW. According to the latest news in November, 2008, China considers adjusting this plan by increasing the nuclear power installed capacity from 40 million KW to 70 million KW by 2020. China will enjoy a wide prospect in nuclear power market.
This report includes the following 4 parts: completed nuclear power projects, projects which are under construction or about to begin, planned projects, and nuclear power construction (companies and equipment). It is of great help for you to understand current situation and trends of China's nuclear power plant in order to seize investment opportunities.
