www.teleworkexchange.com - Telework Exchange, LLC LeeAnn Merritt, 703-883-9000 ext. 133 lmerritt@teleworkexchange.com Telework Exchange(SM), a public-private partnership focused on telework in government, today announced the results of the "Out of the Office: Federal Mobile Workforce Trends" study. The study reveals 82 percent of polled Feds spend work time outside of the office each month (includes telework, travel, meetings in other locations, etc.) and 29 percent say they spend more time working outside of the office today than they did this time last year. Further, Federal employees who use a smartphone for work purposes report an average time savings/productivity gain of 54 minutes per day. The report finds a clear productivity opportunity for the mobile workforce - the Federal government could save an estimated $37 million in additional productivity each day(1) by equipping mobile employees.
Key study findings include:
-- Out of Office: Just 18 percent of Federal employees work from their office all day, every day. Forty-two percent of respondents' telework at least part time. Twenty percent of office-based employees report spending at least a portion of two days per week outside of the office (includes telework, travel, meetings in other locations, etc.)
-- Help Wanted: Only 16 percent of Federal employees give their agency an "A" for equipping employees with mobile tools
-- Buying Back Time: Federal employees equipped with smartphones report an average time savings/productivity gain of 54 minutes per day. However, approximately 1.4 million Federal employees spend some time out of the office without the technology to stay connected
"Mobile technology enables employees to work smarter and make the most of their time - regardless if they are a teleworker or mobile worker," said Cindy Auten, general manager, Telework Exchange. "The study finds that the majority of respondents are already mobile - traveling to and from the office, their home office, meetings, client sites, etc. Mobile technology plays a critical role in empowering employees to remain productive, regardless of their location."
The "Out of the Office: Federal Mobile Workforce Trends" study is based on a survey of 446 Federal government employees. To download the full study results, please visit www.teleworkexchange.com/fedmobility.
