- Ackermann PR Amelia Daniels, 865-584-0550 adaniels@ackermannpr.com For the first time, Clayton Homes is holding its Showcase of Homes in Greensboro, which will be at the Triad Center off of I-40 at exit 210. The three-day show, which runs October 10th, 11th and 12th, is free and open to the public. Organizers expect more than 3,500 people to attend.

Literally, Clayton Homes constructs a temporary neighborhood in the parking lot of The Triad Center, fully adorned with sidewalks, landscaping, mailboxes and street signs. The Showcase of Homes provides an opportunity for people to tour a variety of manufactured homes and see how dramatically the homes have changed in recent years. "We'll have 20 new, fully-furnished homes on display and ready for purchase," says Kevin Clayton, CEO of Clayton Homes. "The amenities are unbelievable, from nine foot ceilings and stone fireplaces to deluxe master suites with wet bars in the master bath." More than 30 housing consultants will be on hand to assist customers with questions and the purchase of a home, including on-the-spot financing.

"These are homes built by Carolinians for Carolinians," says Clayton. As for why he wanted to bring the show to Greensboro, Clayton says, "The Carolinas are an important part of Clayton Homes. We employ 1,814 people here. Last year alone, we sold more than 4,500 homes in North and South Carolina."

Thirteen model home centers are participating in the Showcase of Homes. "This is a chance for us to bring a unique event to our customers in the Greensboro area. They'll experience a variety of homes they don't usually see at the centers," says Clayton. Clayton Homes has produced a similar show in Knoxville, TN for the past 33 years; it attracts thousands of attendees across the Southeast. The Berkshire-Hathaway company is headquartered in nearby Maryville, TN.

"Our unofficial motto is 'Best Home - Best Price' and we take that very seriously," says Clayton. It has been his mission since taking over as CEO ten years ago to produce manufactured housing that surpasses site-built homes in look, quality, and value. It is a message, Clayton says, that seems to be resonating in the Carolinas. In 2007, Clayton Homes generated $1,884,225 in sales tax, plus millions in property taxes from homes sold and others over the years. The annual Clayton payroll in the two states is more than $76,500,000.

The Clayton Showcase of Homes begins at 9 a.m. Friday, October 10. The event is open until 7 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday. "We'll have free hot dogs, drinks, popcorn, and of course admission is free," says Clayton. One-hundred dollar gas cards will also be given away throughout the show; a drawing will be held every hour on the hour.
