American Water Awarded Contract for Fort Polk

www.amwater.com - American Water (NYSE:AWK), the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced today that its Military Services Group has been awarded a contract for ownership, operation and maintenance of the water and the wastewater systems at Fort Polk Army Installation, Louisiana. According to the agreement, the award of this contract is estimated at approximately $348 million over

a 50-year period and is also subject to price re-determination.

American Water's Military Services Group, which is reported as part of American Water's Contract Operations Group, currently operates and maintains the water and/or wastewater networks at Fort A.P. Hill, Va., Fort Bragg, N.C., Fort Sill, Okla., Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Scott Air Force Base, Ill., and Fort Rucker, Ala. American Water also recently announced that it was awarded the water and wastewater contract for Fort Hood, Texas.

Fort Polk is the location of the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC). The basic mission of the JRTC is to train light infantry forces, Special Forces, Army Rangers, and units from other branches of the American Armed Forces.

The Military Services Group of American Water provides water and wastewater services to military installations across the country as part of the federal government's Utility Privatization Program.
