- For Authentium, Palm Beach Gardens Gregory FCA Kate Ritchie, 610-642-8253, ext. 162 KateR@GregoryFCA.com Following great reviews from testing lab IRM, consumers, and corporations, Authentium today released an updated version of SafeCentral, the company's patent-pending security companion for Web browsing. SafeCentral version 1.3 provides several new features that enhance the user experience through faster performance, centralized manageability, expanded configuration options, expanded support, and a sleeker user interface.
All of this is in addition to Authentium's proven end-to-end security technology, which has been lauded by press and analysts for its ability to protect people from identity thieves, viruses, phishers, and countless other threats when shopping, banking, trading, or paying bills online.
"When we released SafeCentral in April 2008, we knew the press and bloggers would pummel it with all the malware they could get their hands on, and try like the devil to break SafeCentral's security," says Doug Brunt, President and CEO of Authentium. "That's their job. But not one reviewer succeeded in compromising SafeCentral -- which is something our competitors can't say. Reviewers and customers, however, did suggest several enhancements they'd like to see in SafeCentral. The new version of SafeCentral answers those requests and rolls in additional functionality, which we think users will really appreciate. Frankly, this is the best version of SafeCentral yet, thanks to feedback we received from both the public and the media."
SafeCentral provides the closest means to a physical transaction possible in the digital world. SafeCentral uses Authentium's TSX (Trusted Security Extensions) technology to monitor Windows system calls and shield web browsing from threats like password-stealing Trojans and hacked DNS. TSX protection allows Internet users to bank and shop on line with confidence -- even if their computer has been infected with the stealthiest of spyware. With one click, SafeCentral's protection shields users' desktops from the lurking threats of the Internet, without limiting flexibility, functionality, or usability.
New features for SafeCentral 1.3 include:
-- Consistent, clean, intuitive interfaces for SafeCentral components, including SafeCentral Desktop, SafeCentral Browser, and My SafeCentral (formerly SafeCentral Portal). All have been redesigned to provide a consistent user experience, with a clean look and feel. For example, the SafeCentral Desktop icon now resides in the Windows System Tray by default, keeping it on tap and on demand. The SafeCentral Browser features a sleek new skin, while My SafeCentral favorites are easier to use with an attractive new design and accessibility directly from your standard browser.
-- Secure Favorites are now integrated into users' default Web browsers (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.), as well as the SafeCentral Browser. These are bookmarks for those Web sites where users consider security paramount (such as banks, investment sites, online shopping, tax filing, etc.). With SafeCentral, users can click on the SafeCentral drop-down to automatically activate and secure their transaction sessions. When the session ends, SafeCentral stands down, and users are returned to their Web browser of choice.
-- Security Alerts detect risks and warn users before they provide personal information that could compromise their identity, even when they're not using the SafeCentral Browser. A SafeCentral alert pops onto the screen when Internet Explorer or Firefox attempts to navigate to a site that should require SafeCentral protection. The alert asks users if they'd like to visit the site with SafeCentral. Clicking "Yes" launches a secure SafeCentral session, and adds the site to users' Secure Favorites for quick future reference.
-- Centralized management gives corporate partners the ability to tailor a wide range of SafeCentral's visual and performance features. For example, they can "skin" SafeCentral to reflect their company branding, or customize controls to improve customer service (e.g., a bank can add its logo and corporate color scheme, then set the "connect" button to automatically route customers to its Web site). Features can be customized at any point before or after deployment, and changes are propagated to users without requiring a reinstallation of SafeCentral.
-- Improved Account Manager simplifies the process of trying, buying, and managing SafeCentral licenses for users. SafeCentral's online subscription process now has a cleaner look, a simpler workflow, and centralized account management functions. Users can now subscribe through any SafeCentral component, change passwords and billing information, add and delete sites from Secure Favorites with ease, and more.
-- Proxy support that lets corporate IT departments make SafeCentral available to their users in environments where proxy servers are used. Now regardless of the business's server configuration, all users will be able to install and use SafeCentral just like any other application on the corporate LAN.
The new version of SafeCentral is available now at www.SafeCentral.com for an annual subscription of $39.95. Users can try SafeCentral for free for 30 days before subscribing.
