Reiner Brings More than a Decade of Distinguished Urban Design Experience to the Hasbrouck Heights Firm HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. (September 3, 2008) - DMR Architects, one of the largest full-service architectural firms in the New York metropolitan area, has announced that Francis Reiner will join the firm as its newest urban designer and landscape architect.
With more than 10 years of experience, Reiner will lead DMR's new urban design division, as well as providing landscape architecture design services. In this capacity, he will be responsible for creating distinctive urban areas while crafting a natural landscaping plan for each DMR-designed building, whether a college campus, residential development, public park or playground.
Reiner's experience enables him to blend his expertise in city planning, landscape architecture and building design to create fully integrated spaces that showcase natural settings while seamlessly incorporating public spaces and transportation systems as well as other aspects of urban life.
'We are pleased to welcome Francis to our firm in this position, one that will expand our array of client services in the area of urban design and landscape architecture,' said Lloyd Rosenberg, DMR president and founder. 'Francis's experience and his in-depth knowledge will help ensure that our buildings are designed with all the conveniences of urban life in mind, while being surrounded by beautiful, functional and memorable natural spaces that serve our clients' needs and that will be enjoyed well into the future.'
Earlier in his career, Reiner created distinct designs for the 'life' between city buildings, giving them a unique identity and beauty. His aesthetic is based on making the connection between people, places and movement as well as urban form, nature and the building fabric that enable him to create functional spaces that also serve as urban works of art.
Prior to joining DMR Architects, Reiner served as a partner with Firmitas Development in North Carolina, where he was responsible for contract negotiations and overseeing development, implementing architectural design standards, generating yield studies and reviewing designs for construction.
Before Firmitas, Reiner served as a design professional in Charlotte, N.C., where he excelled in urban design and landscape architecture for seven years. Reiner also worked as a senior urban designer for HNTB North Carolina, where he was involved as a project manager for numerous public and private sector projects throughout the Charlotte region.
Throughout his illustrious career, Reiner has worked on many private sector projects, particularly in the Charlotte metro area. In the public sector, he has served as the senior urban designer on projects such as Brevard Street Land Use, the Second Ward Neighborhood Master Plan, Charlotte Streetcar Urban Design Study and others.
Reiner is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and the Congress for the New Urbanism, a national organization dedicated to creating pedestrian-friendly developments. Reiner graduated with a bachelor of science degree in landscape architecture from Cornell University and earned a master's in landscape architecture with distinction from Harvard University.
