2008-09-03 15:48:02 -

www.jabber.com - Jabber, Inc. Johanna Erickson, +1-720-341-4618 johanna@jabber.com Jabber, Inc. today announced the general availability of the JabberWerx(TM) Client Libraries for different programming environments, including the JabberWerx(TM) .NET Library and the JabberWerx(TM) AJAX Library. JabberWerx Client Libraries provide developers with commercially supported tools to accelerate Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) client application development to enable real-time presence and messaging capabilities. The JabberWerx AJAX Library was developed in collaboration with Crowd Favorite, a development and consulting firm specializing in web-based software and web development consulting.

The JabberWerx AJAX Library allows developers to build presence-enabled Web 2.0 applications by utilizing JavaScript libraries and user interface (UI) components to add XMPP functionality. These capabilities improve websites' stickiness and provide customers with services that enhance the user experience. The JabberWerx AJAX Library features:

-- One-to-one instant messaging

-- Group chat

-- Presence display

-- Bidirectional-streams Over Synchronous HTTP (BOSH) connectivity

-- Client-side data persistence across multiple web pages

-- Client-side updates from XMPP-triggered events

"The JabberWerx AJAX Library enables companies to simplify the development of applications--such as chat in blogs or social networking sites, customer support portals in websites, or a notification application for live updates such as weather conditions, stock tickers, and breaking news," said Alex King, founder of Crowd Favorite. "The JabberWerx Client Libraries provide the opportunity for companies to dramatically increase the capabilities of their applications."

Based on the .NET framework and written in C#, the JabberWerx .NET Library enables access to XMPP functionality from the .NET framework, and can connect to the Jabber Extensible Communications Platform(TM) (Jabber XCP(TM)) as either a client or a component. The JabberWerx .NET Library is device and language agnostic, and its features include:

-- Support for one-to-one and group chat

-- Presence and contact list management

-- Support for authentication, entity capabilities, and BOSH

-- Publish-and-subscribe functionality

-- Jabber XCP specific protocol extensions

"Our JabberWerx Client Libraries for .NET and AJAX enable developers to quickly and easily add presence and messaging to existing applications," said Joe Hildebrand, chief technology officer of Jabber. "Combined with our always-on server platform, these libraries provide a full range of tools for building XMPP interfaces and further strengthen our position as thought leaders in the XMPP community."
