Samsung Appoints David Steel as Senior Vice President of Marketing

- Samsung Electronics America, an established leader and innovator in consumer electronics, announces the appointment of David Steel as senior vice president of North American Headquarters (NAHQ) marketing. He will be responsible for corporate planning, marketing management and market intelligence, reporting directly to S.W. Hong, executive vice president of NAHQ Strategic Marketing.
Steel comes to NAHQ after 10 years at Samsung Electronics in Korea. He started in Samsung's Global Strategy Group, where he worked on strategic projects for a number of subsidiary companies under the Samsung Group umbrella. From 2002 until 2007, he served as vice president and head of marketing for the Digital Media Business. In 2007, he moved to the Mobile Communications Division, where he was head of marketing strategy for the #2 mobile phone manufacturer globally.
"David brings to NAHQ a strategic mindset, an intimate understanding of different product categories and an extensive network within our retail and channel partners around the world," said S.W. Hong, executive vice president of NAHQ marketing. "We are thrilled to add him to our team at a time when we are seeing exceptional growth and entering the second half of 2008."
