2008-08-08 09:03:07 - The California Association of Licensed Investigators has confirmed Sheriff Sandra Hutchens participation in its upcoming District Meeting.

The Orange County District of the California Association of Licensed Investigators will be hosting an evening of dinner and conversation with Orange County's new Sheriff, Sandra Hutchens, on August 27th, 2008. The event will take place from 6:00-9:00pm in the Irvine area, with the address to be released upon RSVP. Sheriff Sandra Hutchens is the 12th Orange County Sheriff and the first to be selected by the Board of Supervisors to serve out the term of a sheriff who retired. Sheriff Hutchens began her career in the in the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department working as a Secretary, then after graduating from the Basic Training Academy in 1978, began a thirty-year career in law enforcement. Her tours have included Sergeant's posts at the Sybil Brand Institute, Temple Station, Field Operations Region I Headquarters and the Office of the Undersheriff; a Lieutenant's post at Sybil Brand; Watch Commander and Operations Lieutenant at Norwalk Station, followed by a promotion to Captain and the Command of Norwalk Station.

In 2001, Sheriff Hutchens became Commander of Field Operations Region II, and Sheriff Lee Baca's Executive Assistant. She was named Chief of Homeland Security in 2003, and became involved with all aspects of local homeland security for the County of Los Angeles and commissioner on the Los Angeles County Emergency Preparedness Commission. Her career at LASD also included serving as Legislative Liaison in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.
