Funny man Jim Carrey transformed the Ace Ventura character into an instant hit with the release of the classic first film. With an infamous hairstyle to recreate, celebrity hairdresser Randa Squillacote perfectly tackled this 'Ace Wave' for the release of movie's 3rd installment: Ace Ventura Jr. White Sands hair products were on set to style the entire cast of stars. Read on for an exclusive interview full of set hair secrets and tips from Ace Ventura 3's favorite hairdresser: Randa Squillacote.

1. How did you achieve Ace's signature hairstyle?

I watched all the Ace Ventura movies to figure out how Jim Carrey's hair was styled. When I met Josh Flitter (Ace Jr) he had a great head of hair. On our prep days, I tried out different styling techniques with blow dryers, flat irons and product until we achieved the correct 'Ace Wave'.

2. Besides Ace, did any other characters require special styling?

Ralph Waite, John Walton from the Walton's, played Ace Jr's grandfather. I also had to style his own hair in the 'Ace Wave'. (The hair style runs in the family from B.C.) I was asked by the director if I could come up with a wig with an 'Ace Wave' for Ace's dog and I did. It is pretty funny.

3. Describe a typical day in the hair and makeup trailer.

We started every morning very early. The cast was so much fun. Josh would usually put on music from Queen (his favorite). There was a lot of singing and sometime dancing. We (the makeup and hair department) decorated the trailer with every type of animal we could think of. We had stuffed animals, plastic animals, pictures of animal everywhere, hanging from the ceiling to hanging on our mirrors. The crew had an average of 12 hours a day.

4. Which White Sands products were your on set favorites?

My favorite products for the Ace Wave is White Sands Liquid Texture Firm Hold and White Sands Infinity Liquid Texture Firm Finish Spray. It is the only product that would hold up all day (10 to 12 hours) with the heat and humidity of Florida. Maximum hold with minimal effort.
