Gary Schmidt, senior director, customer service and merchandising for Philip Morris USA, presented the award to Ann Drake, DSC's CEO. Schmidt reflected on DSC's performance in operating Logistics Centers at which DSC "touches virtually all of (Philip Morris USA's) volume." He said, "If I had to describe your workforce with one word, it would have to be 'proactive.' I've been to your facilities and I know there are challenges every day. But you are constantly thinking ahead and developing plans for us. In my experience, that's the reason you've achieved world class standards so consistently for 10 straight years."
